1st gen tranny
From what I've read, a first gen tranny is good to about 250HP after that things start coming apart. Keep in mind I'm no expert and hopfully someone with more knowlage than I will chime in. No I Can't Spell. ;)

Do not drag race. It will destroy the tranny.
Gentle application of throttle is your friend.
Less boost = longer tranny life.
Turbo ][ tranny is a better bet. If you can find one that's not worn out.

i had a used 1 gen tranny in my truck. I was used with over 100K and lasted less than 6 months. Upgrading to T-2. My motor is a tired, weak, ported 13-b with stock carb. BTY, I have the Torsen posi in the rear end so that will put more stress on the tranny. Good luck.

The Torsen is AWESOME. No more single wheel burnouts and not my truck can do DONUTS. Put a nice circle in front of my house. My wife was ticked...thank God elderly neighbors are deaf. Buy Torsen kit from fuzzy-eyed, 77 repu ring gear spacer and bolt bolt size is different from 74-75. If you can use dial indicater for setting ring/pinion lash and axel thrust it's not bad. If you rip into pinion gear bearing it'll be a headache. Definitly upgrade to T-2 tranny.
