2nd Gen Alternator Upgrade

HELP. I installed a 2nd gen rx7 alt into the REPU today. Replaced the 1st gen rx7 alt i had. Anyway, was wondering if all terminals need to be connected. After hook up drove truck around the block and tach was wiggin out below 2K rpm. Voltage was 14 VDC. Old alt was around 13 VDC. Checked out the rx7 club forum and found some stuff.

Pretty sure new alt is series 4. It has the mitsubishi diamand symbol on shaft bearing cover at rear of alt. Has B, R, and L terminals. R and L terminals are T shaped just like the 1st gen alt. If anyone has installed one of these in a REPU please respond.
Thanks.

I figured it out....I had bad fusible link. Alternator seems to be working fine. Voltage is 13.5 VDC. I think I'll throw a fire extinguisher in the truck. Previous owner jacked all the wiring at the fuse block.

Check out links to RX7 club for alternator wiring. It sounds like you have a wire with continuous power connected to the alt. The only wire with power always skould be the big 10 guage connected to the output terminal og the alt. I think its the B term.

Yep..

There's numerous threads on the 1st gen sections on this, I ran into this myself installing a 2nd gen alt on an Fb. Darned if I can remember what the fix is, but it was pretty simple.
