Just bought dual Weber DCD's for the REPU

They increase torque and really help out low and mid-range. 25mm primaries, 32mm secondaries.

they're installed and running

Need to synchronize them better, and buy some new linkage for them. Primary chokes are 3mm bigger (28mm) than what R.E. sold them with (25mm). Which is a good thing since it still makes very good low end with the 28's. Had to increase primary main fuel jets from 135 to 145, noticeably more HP.

Still need to dynotune for max hp, fab up choke cable and linkage, and install a cold-air-box but so far so good.

Hey Brad,

Kewl Deal!! I love those carbs. I'd like to get ahold of another set myself. I bought that setup new for a 12A I originally had in my Sprite back in '85. I think that is THE BEST carburetion setup for street rotaries, ever. I have another set I got used but they don't work as well as my old set which I sold during lean times many years ago. I noticed in your picture that I didn't see the velocity stacks..... My current setup doesn't have them. Do you have them? If not, have you checked into finding some? I've heard they really help the power band. My original setup had them and they were a cast piece that covered both sides of each carb. The only ones I've seen advertised were for the Porsche setup using these carbs and they were VERY expensive. Good luck.... I'd be interested in knowing what you end up with for jetting and where you got the jets.

Happy Rotoring,

Rob

mine don't have stacks either

I have found a place out of the US that has a few but not cheap. I have looked high and low, these carbs can be tough to get parts for. I haven't seen the porsche stacks. pegasusracing.com sells a neat expensive stack for weber DGV that looks kinda similar but that is a different lid design and won't work.

Wish I could find some. I'm still looking and have a few more sources to check out.

http://piercemanifolds.com/ is the best source for DCD parts I've found. No stacks though :(

Turned out the intake manifold flange (to motor) was warped, big intake leak. Got it milled flat for $35 (good deal!) and installed. Tightened everything up, lots of bolts, ballpark synched. Also removed the secondary chokes. Much better top end and still has good low end (28mm primaries). Installed dual EGT gauge, that really helped me troubleshoot.

I really like the intake noise but it gets attention.

Sooooooooooooooo..... I bought 2 aluminum boxes 7" long, 5" wide, 4" tall ($23 each!) to install onto each carb = instant cold air boxes!! I'll run a 3" hose to each box with an air filter each, put air filters behind the passenger headlights. Cut a hole in sheetmetal up there for cold air. And put hot rod insulation around the air boxes to reduce noise and reflect heat. This weekend's project. Should be a sleeper.

Then it's onto the dyno. It should be all ready for Mazfest May 20th and discounted dyno runs.

Brad,

How are the Weber's working out? I just bought a set off e-bay. Havn't put them on yet. Set has "rebuilt" carbs with the stacks and new air cleaners...... Hoping they work well. Do you know what your jet sizes are?

I had the dual dcd's on my street ported 12a and it was KILLER. I did have a dellorto 48 and the low end sucked but the dual dcds made low end kick ass and all in all it was a far better setup on the street than the dellorto. the only issue i had with my dcd's was getting the dam linkage to stay set right. nomater what i did the dam linkage would work loose after about 2 weeks.

cool looking set up ,what about a 600 holly dp ,i produced 200 hp on my 13b street port. i have read a great deal about carbs and what i have seen is the spacer between the carb is what makes the difference in low and top end . thicker the spacer more low end.

http://www.piercemanifolds.com/product_p/18910.139.htm not exactly the same carb but very close. this one has a vacuum port for timing. don't know any other differences. they were nla for a very long time, surprised to see them new.

The spacers with this kit was to clear the water pump housing.
