Motor Question

Ok, just got a 76 repu with the help of a good friend (14 hour trip), thanks charles.

Well my question is I could go 3 different ways with the motor setup on this repu. Not sure, so what your ideas.

1 - stay 13b 4 port and a stock carb
2 - use my 13b 6 port motor from a gsl-se. It is a s4 motor with my gsl-se cover, oil pan, injectors and e shaft.
Then go carb, weber or holley.
3 - Use my gsl-se motor with the s4 UIM,LIM,TB,Dynamic chamber, and then use Megasquirt for my fuel computer.

Truck has the stock 5 speed with a 4.111 rear end.

Thanks

13B

I think you should build up that 13B that came with it and make it a stocker.. Keep-it-simple. EFI, ECU, ETC all that means extra stuff to go wrong and fail. Besides I don't want you to run off and leave me.

Budget and desired outcome...

...will help you to decide. Personally, I'd go with the stock 'block, as well... provided it's still good 'enough', or within spec. to rebuild.
If you've the funds, sky's the limit...
First 'engine' mod: RB header & free-flowing exhaust; second: Electronic ignition; third: Porting/Intake 'upgrade'...
You get the picture!

Of course, there's a good case to be made for building with GSL-SE housings, etc., if you're putting money into a fresh engine...

Motor

well, the stock idea is the best for resale for sure.
As for leaving you, well that will happen anyways (hello streetport, header, long primary, and maybe muffler)

As for the 6 port motor carb or FI I was gonna use the motor that is in the gsl-se and put a stock motor in it to sell it. Guess I will pull it when the time comes to sell it and pickle it.

As for the motor being rebuildable, the owner I bought it from said it was a mazda reman with very low miles.
The housings are in awesome like new shape. Well, I am just gathering info. You know me i don't like to go to far from OEM.

If the owner was honest...

...keep it the well-cared-for factory reman, and build a different motor entirely, should you desire something 'more'!

well the motor is torn down and is very clean and the housings are like new. I also have another 4 port I pulled from a rx4 that I will drop in first. If it needs a rebuild I will port it ans save the other motor since it is so nice.

I really would love to see what my GSL-SE motor would do in this truck. I have been told that that motor is around 180-190hp so I can only wonder what the repu would do.

Thanks for the help everyone.
And again a special thanks to Charles for letting me get the REPU FEVER and for all your help. Can't wait for us to drive them together.
