High RPM miss

My 74 repu has a minor issue ever since I got it a week ago. When revved past 4K (under load or not) there is a definite miss going on, won't rev any further. I've put new plugs and wires in, no change. Could it be the points?

Could also be timing.
Another possibility is too much fuel. What carb is on it?

I guess I meant are you running something that is probably stock or is it some kind of performance carb?

...or too little...:

If you've got the stock Hitachi, look for the tiny cylindrical screens in the top of the carb, just prior to the inlet valves... they tend to get clogged.

Poor fuel pump performance, and fuel starvation due to crap in the lines/carb are major sources of lack of power/performance. Replace your filter(s), test your pump, and go through your carb! Float level is crucial, too...

--that is, once you've eliminated ignition issues...

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check those filters. I'm guessing its ignition because it's a definite 'miss', as if a plug wire was crapping out at high RPM. Seems like a carb deal would feel more like a bogging down.
I'll check the carb for sure anyhow, I appreciate the help.

You're very welcome.

I only mention it because I had a very similar condition...

(Of course, you'll want to check your timing first!)

...you are 100% certain that your leading and trailing aren't switched, I hope?
