Very true indeed. Especially when everything for our trucks is old, rusty, and hard to find. I'm just happy that my REPU is pre-smog and that it's on a frame so customization is only limited by time and money... oh wait, I don't have much of either lately!

What do you need for your REPU

...in terms of parts you don't want to mod...? (Sure, they're old and frequently rusty, but there's a certain 'oldschool cool' that, IMHO, is quite desirable, in and of itself.)

working on it

My pinion seal took a dive so I called Chris, he is going to have his machine shop guy call me back directly and we'll work something out. I'll keep everyone updated.

So you are going to be selling the spacers/shims we need to use the TII LSD in the REPU rear end? If so I'll definetelyy be getting a set.

The spacers and bolts will be sold as a kit, most probally directly thru the machinist. Uses a TORSEN limited slip from 3rd gen RX-7. REPU carrier, ring and pinion.

Today he is ordering enough materials to do 5 kits at this time. More can be ordered later of course depending on interest. Pricing is not solidified, timeframe not solidified. Not taking more orders yet. We're working on this one. His 2 friends have done this mod already.

Chris is working on a kit to sell us, complete with all parts, hardware, and instructions. Just take it with your Torsen and REPU rear to a rear end shop and say "Do this."

When it's done I'll let you know.

Sounds very good. I'm in as long as it isn't too outrageous ;) That damn Torsen is going to be expensive. Too bad, I can get TII rearends for next to nothing.

I will have all the info to install the TII limited slip into the REPU housing this week. We found another small problem that took some more time to work out.
Don't worry the info is coming.

cool beans

The TORSEN's can be found at junkyards or from guys who put V8's in their 3rd gens and put another rear in there. It is latest technology and really puts the power down. Doesn't need LSD additive either.

I got mine for $125 used of course and they are sometimes on ebay from japan JDM at a good price with low mileage. Just shop around and IM all the v8 conversion guys on rx7club.com to see what they got. Some guys post them for sale but they don't always sell. Since the TORSEN does not wear out (not clutch pack type) they last forever as long as they are properly maintained and not abused.

T][ is a great option too no doubting it. It's all good.

I'll keep you guys updated with my progress.

The spacers are done

And grade 8.8 bolts sourced. I should receive it all next week. Can't wait! Then drop off all the parts at driveline shop for installation.

I also don't like the drums though and the 6 bolt wheel pattern is terrible. IMO the LSD is only part of the problem when it comes to REPU rear ends.

Those drums are *real* heavy. IMHO the 6 lugs are cool and add some saftey (more lugs to keep the wheel on).

These 88-94 Isuzu rear discs would fit nicely on REPU if anyone wants to make the caliper brackets.

good news

Got off my lump and found a reputable shop in long beach to do the work. The whole rear hub to hub goes to them tomorrow morning. Monday they'll dissassemble it and assess.

Yippie!

good to hear the project is moving forward again.
btw, is that any year suzuki swift or is there a particular year(s)? even better would be a part number, unless you're still planning on putting a kit together!
