Don't do it...

...if you can help it! The 13B belongs in the REPU. Yes, the 12A can be built to put out 'almost' as much power...(for a given relative level of porting/build)... but why? **(See the 'Arkansas Originals' thread in 'The Pickup Bed' for more of my thoughts on just this type of question.)
Save the 12A's for the 2's, 3's, and 7's they're appropriate for... (or, build a motorcycle around one!)
Put a 13B in the 4's, Cosmo's, REPU's, and anything else you can't resist... :)
Your options are only limited by your pocketbook, as far as how modern, modified, or original a 13B you might desire... but, PLEASE, unless you're gonna 20-B or 4-rotor it, stick with some version of what's proper! :)

Where are you located?

(I'm only asking 'cause it might be helpful for you to hook up with an experienced shop/electrical talent in your area...)
Yes, there's always plenty to consider. Even a stock oldschool replacement requires all the ancient original wires and connections to be usably functional... and so much deteriorates over 30-odd years... so, if it wasn't all working when the previous motor came out, well...
Other than that, it's certainly helpful to have the entire functioning setup/harness from whatever specific model you're swapping...
Newer isn't nessecarily easier/simpler! Unless and until it actually is...
I'm still collecting bits and dreaming of the day, myself...
*Do some research into the older threads here regarding your ignition setup--there's a TON of info there you'll find useful, including some pics of ignition wiring details, as I recall...! Could be as simple as... :)
