Am I wrong
Am I wrong or did nitrated plates not come out till 1979? How can this be an original 74 REPU block if its using nitrated plates. A little pricey too...

Hard to tell from just those pics, probably just cast iron with no paint left on it.

First of all, it's spelled nitrided. Second, I can see R5 on the intermediate plate. There is also no temp fitting at the top. It's just a flat machined surface like all nitirded R5s that I've seen.
The front and rear are a little harder to tell, but I'd bet dimes to donuts it's a typical "R5 plates with 3B rotor housings" engine.
So in other words, that engine is identical to the one I rebuilt a couple months ago for like $300.
Are you going to get it?

Yes they are R5 housings, ported to REPU specifications. I have changed the web page to reflect that. Sorry if it mislead anyone, it was not intentional. I built his motor for my own use, to go into one of the trucks. The tow vehicle specifically. It was put together to run for a long time and will pass emissions with working original equipment installed. This is not a $300 rebuild. This comes with new Mazda water pump and thermostat. Oil pan and sensors. Resealed oil-metering pump.
If you need an exact all original motor this isn’t it. If you want a motor that you will not have to worry about for a long time then you may want to think about it. Keep the all original for when you put the truck in a concours show.
Almost none of the parts for the original motor are available from Mazda.
