New REPU owner

i go tomorrow to pick up my 74 REPU thats been turned into a convertable... the top doesn't look like it fits exactly right, i play on cutting the top off a ford courier and having a body shop make a custom hard top out of it, so i can pull it off whenever i want and pop it in the bed(with custom made brackets of course)... heres a link to pics and specs... its also not 2" exhaust its actually 2.5"

pretty nice, it will probly wind up being repainted black as well

Awesome! So you got the funds. :) I trust the truck will go to a good home (meaning I know you know how to treat rotary engines correctly). Very cool!

Incidentally, I just started driving another one of Tom's previous REPUs just this week. It's the white one. He got it back in late '95/early '96. He pulled the engine and sold it to me for my red REPU. He threw in a ported 13B which then went into his baja (can be seen on my webpage). Then he dropped in an old R5 13B from a dead '77 truck (one pic of it on my webpage). Then Rick started driving it. The R5 engine eventually needed a set of apex seal springs due to a bad distributor that missed on the rear rotor every other time. I installed DLIDFIS and it helped tremendously. Then he got the funds and we ported and rebuilt the engine. The old radiator had stop-leak in it which ended up getting washed out and he didn't keep an eye on the antifreeze level. My first rebuild overheated. Then he went into the army and I got the truck. I rebuilt the engine again with another set of used rotor housings and started breaking it in on Monday.

Right now, the red REPU's engine is in the MG. I've got another R5 13B that'll go into the red REPU after it's rebuilt.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I just wanted to tell you that I just got one of his old trucks running again. I wish you success in getting the blue truck to a state you can be proud of.

Congratulations!

...and welcome to the Forum! You could also skip the top, and cut down the windshield to 'roadster' it... (just a crazy idea that came to mind...) :)

looks like i need to adjust the clutch pedal, it doesn't disengage fully, makes it a pain to drive, and i need to fix the wiper motor, as well as get new front tires, other than that the truck is in great shape and i feel like i got a great deal!

i fixed the clutch master cylinder, i replaced it with one out of my 84 FB(since i replaced the one it had in it, not knowing whether it worked or not), and now my clutch works fine, not hard to put into gear at all... the wiper motor is replaced now too, ordered one at schucks this morning, got it this afternoon, and got it in... also got the front tires replaced... now all it needs is that custom hard top

I'm a new REPU owner too, tho I've had RX-7s for 20 years (I now have 3 FBs). I got lucky and picked up a red 74 with 120k and 15k on the new engine for $1100. Very nice truck.

What I need now is a decent lockin toolbox and a bedliner. Maybe a camper shell.
