Yea Baby, I got me a valance.......
This ain't no dented, dinged, banged, bashed, smashed or trashed valance, No sireee, this is a brand spanken new spit shiney one with the Mazda stickers.
It came with a parts buggy I just bought. It has never been installed, it has never seen rain, hail, sleet or snow, No Ma'am the closest this has been to a curb is when the UPS guy carrying it stepped off his truck to deliver it. It is smooth as a baby's bottom. It is the holy grail of parts searching and I got me a big one.
Yee Haw, Martha, get out the good glasses and lets toast a few.

OK, I do want to gloat a little bit......
I scooped up a nice straight 74 "project" that was about as disassembled as a truck can get, I mean no installed fenders, doors, hood, wires, seats gas tanks, shields, handles, knobs, grill, chrome....you name it, it was there but not installed. I got a truck with a whole bunch of boxes jammed full of a gazillion baggies with parts and bolts with the part name written in marker on the outside.
Imagine a whole, and I mean a "WHOLE" truck boxed in baggies. But....and I mean BUT, with the instant parts department I got a few choice new parts, the valance and baffle being the crown jewel of the bunch, but I got a new radiator, new door seals, door window seals, windshield rubber, bumper tips, bumper mounts, (all in original sealed Mazda bags), a left and right fender, a new hood prop, door handles, and a few more I can't remember. I got 3 gallons or PPG primer, I got 3 gallons of solvent, A gallon of black chassis paint (All but the solvent may be bad from age), I got seat covers, two sets of instruments, radio surrounds, a very decent dash cap with one small crack in it. I got an engine with leaky water seals and he swears it never overheated, so maybe I got a rebuildable core. I got a nice 4 speed truck tranny, four brand new tires on decent steel rims, a brand new set of chrome beauty rings, and bed that looks like they never used it.
This "project" has been in his garage since 1987, with evidence that it hasn't seen the sun since 1992 at the latest.
As much as the lot was but a candy store for me, I had to conceal my eagerness to get my hands on the valance. After seeing the "pile" he asked me is I still wanted it, but at $200 for the lot and after laying eyes upon a valance with an invoice date of 9-8-87, I feigned apprehension and agreed to pay the full price. I loaded up the trailer, and had to leave the engine behind until next week.
Guess which parts rode in the truck with me......

I know, but, you all saw it, Klaus egged me on...
You know, the sick part of it all is I saw it on the Yahoo Mazdarotaryenginedpickup website that is linked from our homepage. It was posted for almost 24 hours exactly and in the post he mentions he had the valance and the "scoop" behind it. There it was clear as bell, but because traffic sucks on it, we all rarely check it and I am included in that.
See for yourself: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/mazdarepurotaryenginepickup/
This is why my guard is always on for these deals, I believe there are plenty of sleepers out there ready to shower the attentive with their bounty.
And I have certainly gotten a decent share of it lately.

Lucky Ken !!!
Well Ken you seems to be a Repu sniffer...
I bet you can smell a Repu from long distance, and that´s a great gift you have !!! Ha Ha Ha...
I have heard that it might be an other Repu here in sweden and i have get a hint were it can be,i am checking that out now... I heard that the truck is located in an wrecking yard not so far from here, there i live... I hope it still lives and not have been chrushed...
By the way i have found a Battery box now... And had a good
bargin on it too,not a $300 item as they might go for...
I have this box for $25 a complet box in very good solid shape...
I too have some luck sometimes...
I have a question to all here,i have been listed some spark plugs on the E-bay... And i wonder if they will work on the old 13B engines that we have in our Repus...
The heat number on them is BR8EM i know they will work in the early engines like the 10A and early 12A...
Ken if you read this i will remind you that we have some undone buisness to take care off... :-) ...
And klaus you going to get a gift from me from a nice fellow you know !!! I was there... At the Hex...
The swedé...

Wow, thanks, Lars... !
You must've met Ian, then... Hope you had fun at the concert, and your ears have stopped ringing! I don't know about those particular plugs, but if they were meant to be run in rotaries of any vintage, they could probably be used... How many side wires do those have? More is better... I like the more modern plugs, myself.

Those plugs
have been superceded... so unless you find someone who loves 'em, they're kind of an old novelty...

They're for points ignitions, what with their tiny gaps and everything.
