SevenStock?

Anybody else taking their REPU to sevenstock this year? Orignally I had planned on taking the 7 because it has A/C, but after all that work getting the bushings, ball joints, etc replaced on the REPU I have changed my mind. For the second year in a row I will be putting on about 1000 miles over the sevenstock weekend and driving it out from Phoenix. I wish I could have done some more body work on it before the trip, currenly my bad priming job makes the thing look worse than last year.

I just pulled the engine out of mine on Monday. It ran fine, but couldn't have made the trip anyway. Maybe next year.

I would love to make it this time next year. What I think would be neat, is to have all the people that have REPU that are going to make the trip down there, that live up here in the northwest. Should all meet up and drive down together, have a big REPU run. :)

My REPU is primered up too Tom but boy the undercarriage is SWEET. I listed it planned non-operational but today got registration renewal which does NOT ask for a smog certification which is great since it's not smog legal and that woulda cost $250 to 'acquire' a cert. Might just do that and drive her to SS6. She's lawn green too.

Or tow the rx7 racecar and get LOTS of compliments.

No RotaryNews REPU at SevenStock

I was really working hard to get the truck ready for SevenStock, but because of tuning problems, brakes, and cooling issues with the turbo, it won't make the trip from Vegas down to Irvine :(

It should, however, be at the Mazda Nationals in Vegas the weekend after... I trust it more driving across town than across states, plus I should have a week to get the brakes fixed.

I'm debating on driving my '77 REPU to sevenstock. Cosmetically it's pathetic but runs great. I'm close to Irvine but am wondering if I should save evrybody and myself the embarrassment. It needs a paint job and the interior is kind of disassembled, I'm half way done changing a burned electrical ground wire in the harness.
What do you all think?

bring the REPU sparky! It cant look a whole lot worse than mine. Last year even as bad as mine was it was still right about in the middle of the road for the REPU's. When there are only 5 or 6 there people dont care how ugly they are, they just care about seeing a cool rare truck.

I pulled the engine out of another REPU today (overheated). This is the day I should have left if I was going to sevenstock.

I want to see lots of pics of your new hood prop device, Tom :) Or uh, well, the rest of the truck and the others there at sevenstock too. Heh.

Regarding the hood prop, my friend claims to have fixed it while he had my truck the last couple days. Maybe if he did a good job I will have something that will at least look somewhat authentic and be able to hold it most of the day. May have to reinforce it with something though, without a stick at least helping to hold it up nobody will recognize that it is my truck!
This year I have a digital camera so should be able to take lots of pictures! Hopefully others in the caravan will be able to get some good action shots of me on the road. Cant wait until friday morning when we head out, should be a good trip!

You know whats funny Tom.. FD3BOOST posted a pic of your truck in the repu section on Nopistons.com.. Everyone always remembers your truck as the one with the stick holding up the hood..

You go, Sparky!

If I were to be there--which I'm sorry to say I won't--and were to show up in my 'driver', it would likely be the most pathetic-looking POS "rat-REPU" at the whole event... at least amongst the running ones. So, don't get too discouraged; at least you're near the location! Just do it!

Ugly Truck

I've got to have the title for the ugly truck. But it won't be at SS. Tennessee is just too far. I think mechanically it would make it. I wouldn't. Visit my web site and you will see it. Its the flatbed with the really rusted hood, and floor boards. Take lots of pics at SS for us easterners to see. See ya. Charles

I had considered taking mine down there, but I would need to rebuild the carburetor and fix a few other things before being comfortable making a trip of that length. I don't really see this happening before Friday. I'm also about 8 hours away from Irvine, now I know that's nothing compared to some of you but I'm not sure I could handle it in the REPU. I'd probably go deaf on the way down. I'm not a real fan of road trips over 2-3 hours long anyway. Especially with our cramped cabs and whatnot. I wish SevenStock was a bit closer.
