more newbie questions

Hello all I am about one week from ownership of a 74 green repu, and have a few questions.I have yet to even see the truck in person but with the aid of this forum have been informed the bed is indeed single wall construction.I guess my question is,has anyone figured out a good way of maybe making an inner wall to keep stuff from sliding in the bed and causing dents from the inside out?I was figuring maybe even plywood would work but again like I said I haven't even seen the truck in person.I guess this question is for the tail gate as well.I guess I have another question at this time. Will a 12Anikki carb fit the intake manifold of this truck? The owner told mew its a cosmo intake.I ask because I have a nice Yaw modified 12A carb on my RX-7 and would like to use it if possible. The owner told me(as well as my friend who looked at the truck)that it needs some carb work to get it running right, but that it does indeed have a brand new rebuilt 13B in it,with about 1 hour of run time on it.I think maybe in the future i will get a weber down draft of some thing similar but now would like to get it drivable so i can bother all the other idiots around here(massachusetts)when they get beat in a drag race at a light by a courier.HEHEHEHEHE!!!!!!Sorry to be long winded

Sounds like a REPU, not a courier...

Plywood on the inside of your bed will just trap moisture and encourage (further) rust. Best not to leave anything back there when stomping on it, so as not to create problems... Otherwise, tie it down good! Yes, you'll find your tailgate is also single wall. You could adapt your Yaw power to the manifold, but why? Just go thru the stock carb, and be especially aware of dealing with any possible intake vacuum leaks, and you should be OK for a while. Hope your motor was properly done by someone who knew how!
You'll fing stock carb kits on ebaymotors from time to time. matt@always-jaguar tends to have 'em, and he's a good guy to buy from; tell him I sent you. Congrat's on your REPU, and welcome to the forum!

How bout you vent the plywood walls or use some sort of mesk grille but obviously a thick guage, like security door material..

Bed Sidewall Protection

One could always remember, not to leave unsecured material in the bed. (Doesn't work, ask me how I know)
You could make some really nice aluminum sides, you have to remove the condense tank cover, really spendy and time consuming or the plywood, ugh!

Or you could put small dia tubes about 3" up from the floor in the 3 unprotected corners, easy to do and works well. (Dodge did this with their import trucks)
If you also have the urge to shave the hooks the tubes make good tie downs.
I don't know how well the sprayin bedliners work for impact protection but But I wouldn't trust my sheetmetal to them.

The inner panel for the tailgate is easy to do with aluminum or steel and is well worth the effort, just make sure you have adequate drainage.

Well I've had fantasies of a wood bed (like the ol' timie domestics) and was wondering on this myself. I was thinking of runing 1X4 (treated and finished to match my bed wood of course) the length of the bed with some nice polished metal mounts (also to match the metal of the wood bed floor).

I just have this thing about wood bed floors. Going to really work to make it right but should be great on an older truck with such character.

Also toying with the idea of two channels along the bed floor that would accomodate a sliding tie down system (sometimes you need to tie DOWN to the bed, not out to the sides).

Anyway, you could run a few pieces of nice channel vertically along the sides and mount that 1x4 (probably two horizontally down each side). That should keep anything of any real size from dinging up the inside.
