Horn not working,and paint question
Hey guys,
I have finally decided that revving the engine up wen I see a friend instead of using the horn is annoying. It has been this way for three years, and today I decided to fix it. I pulled the drivers side headlight trim off,and got to that horn. I pulled the wire, and when the horn is pressed(I get the relay clicking) I get 12.5 volts to ground on that wire. I put a used horn I bought from a guy on eBay many years ago on there, and still no go. I tried testing that horn with just some wire jumpers, and a battery, and it doesn't sound. Neither does the second spare I have. is it possible I am doing the test wrong,or is it more likely I have multiple bum horns? Can I just use one from an RX-7?
Also I was looking at my poorly painted(black) grille, and I want to do something about it. Can you guys reccomend a good color apray paint that is close to the Argent color of the factory grille? Is there any special prep that I need to do before painting the grille?
Thanks,
Chris

Did you ground the horns that where being tested? If you have a good 12 volt source there there are only two other reasons why a horn does not work. Either the horn is bad or it does not have a good ground.

I figured out the horn. I think I have a couple of bad ones. Also the one I got to work had a bad connection on it that I needed to clean up.

How about the paint question? What is the best brand, style, and color to buy for the grille?
