Actually spoke w/mazdarepu member
Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know I spent a good solid two hours on the phone with Neal(Kansei) last night talking REPU's,and rotaries. It was very nice speaking with him,and I actually wish I could talk with more members on the phone,or in person. The web is great for certain things, but speaking with someone is so much better. It turns out the both of us are about the same age,and obviously we both love rotaries.
It is unfortunate that we can't all get together more often(impossible for me on the east coast),and have meets. I have only spoke with Hunter on the phone before, and I have met mazdaorbust in the past at his place in CT.
I wish I had more people to hang out with, and talk to more regularly that were into rotaries, but as I told Neal the rotary scene is basically non-existant in the area of NE that I am in.
Oh well I am talking too much. Just wanted to say that Neal is a very nice person to speak with, and is a certfied rotorhead like all of us,and a traditionalist much like myself, but maybe moreso.
Happy Rotoring
Chris

Once my steering box gets rebuilt and installed
I'd be down for another meet @ a brewery or something. Steelhead Brewery in Irvine, CA anyone?

Neal is a great guy and a true rotorhead. He actually stopped by my house in San Diego about 3 years ago or so. We could of talked all night about rotaries if we had the time.
Brad, I'm down for a brewery run. Lets set a date and do it!

Brad, I'm up for a REPU gathering. My truck won't make it, but I can.

Anyone know if it'd be possible to get a member map as part of the forum? On some other car forums I go to, the map lets you figure out who is close by, or if you're traveling, it makes it easier to meet up with with the people in that area.

That's an excellent idea. It would make it easy to setup little informal get-togeters and to search out people with parts and info one might need.
I think there's a way to do it with GoogleEarth. I've seen other resource maps done with GE, but I've not contributed anything myself. But it looks like an interesting project so I think I'll start something along that line, then tell folks how to get on board.
I assume everyone has access to GoogleEarth? Has everyone tried it out, if for nothing better than to peek at your own housetop from a satellite.
Too bad I sold my REPU. Sigh. Hadn't used it for 6 months, felt guilty about having 5 vehicles. REPU started instantly and ran like a tiger when a buyer came by. It was stock and had a newish 13B in it. Nice truck.
I'm already looking for my next one! Seems to me a guy up in Oregon had one with a 5" extended cab (homebrew), which would really be a plus for me.
Seems to me I should be able to sell some of these darn cars to make room for a new REPU. I have a very nice 85GSL with 83k that is such a sweetheart that it should go to an appreciative new owner.

That can be done on frappr. I just made a map titled Mazda REPU, but I dont know if it worked :D

Of course something seems to be wrong with it as I cant add my location yet.

Been away for a bit...
Just logged on for the first time in about a week or better, and just wanted to touch base. Thanks for the kind words, Chris and Max! You guys are both a blast to chat with, too! Even though there's plenty of folks out there with RX-7s (heck, all totaled there were a over a million produced, yes?), there aren't that many true rotorheads/collectors out there that seek certain ones out and hold onto them. I really enjoy talking to those kind of people- hence why this is my favorite forum out there. I too really enjoy hopping on here and talking with everyone, and can definitely sympathize with Chris about not having many people around him to meet up with. There's plenty of RX-7 "kids" around me, but although they're nice guys and all, they're still kids, and I get really bored really fast talking to them about their "S5 Tails" and "JDM" shift knobs and all that garbage. I am going to try my damnedest to fly out to Sevenstock this year (would be my first year) provided work doesn't get in the way again... maybe I'll meet a few more of you out there!
Neal.
