All the help I can get

My 77 repu is in bad shape. It needs body work and a paint job. The damn thing wont start. I unflooded it and it started but then would die after 10-15 seconds. Then I would have to pump the gas and try to start it again. Same thing over and over again. I replaced the fuel filter and then it wouldnt start so I thought that it needed gas and I think I ended up flooding it again. I will re unflood it agian but what could it be? Why wont it stay running? I have more questions once this one gets fixed.

Thankyou

Hmmn...this is new data after answering your other post...

...O.K., if enough fuel is making it to the carb to flood it, start by cleaning your plugs thoroughly, and determine whether or not the float in your carb is needing replaced or adjusted--valve too while you're at it; hell, might as well go through the carb. ... Then again, your float could simply be sticking...try whacking the side of your carb's float bowl semi-gently with something like a plastic or rubberized screwdriver handle...this may unstick your float...then with un-fouled plugs your REPU might run! :) ,K.

But what about

If I disconnect my fuel pump should fuel squirt out of it or what? I always thought that it would but now I am not so sure because I have never tried it. When I unhook my fuel pump(the fuel line) It doesnt blow out any gas.

If your fuel pump is hooked up properly...

...and everything appears to be as it should, you should hear a buzzing sound coming from it when your key is in the 'on' position, and fuel should be coming out of the delivery line at the carb., if removed there. If this is not the case, these are the possible reasons: 1.) Your fuel pump is not hooked up properly, or your electrical connections are corroded, shorted, or otherwise non-functioning. (Check for a fuse!) 2.) Your fuel pump is truly electrically dead, and needs to be replaced... (Check for a good ground--clean all connections!) 3.) Your fuel line, pump, filter, and/or pick-up tube are clogged with rust/crap, and until cleared and tank cleaned/lined, nothing else will work... 4.) Your fuel pump diaphragm is shot, and try as it might, it cannot pump a thing... 5.) This has something to do with the 'dohickey' device discussed elsewhere on this site, now identified as a safety device "tilt" type fuel shutoff switch, which has either come loose and shut off your fuel flow, or has otherwise stopped the flow... (Dang! But I want to corner in excess of one 'G', do loops, and barrel-roll my REPU in midair without cutting off my fuel flow...guess I'll have to remove my dohickey first!)
