Hood cable might be shoot
Anyone have any idea how I could open the hood with out useing the hood cable. Like the subject says, I think my hood cable might be shoot. I went to pop the hood on my bros 74 repu and it just went out. I can pull the bar, and the bar stays, but no hood opens.
I hope you guys can under stand that what I am meaning.
I also might be buying my brothers 74 from him for what ever price I offer him.

Believe it or not......
you have to start with a cool car, jack it up, get a good light positioned under the hood, and slither and I do mean slither up the exhaust side. You'll need a long skinny pointed tool that is very sturdy. I used an awl. Your goal will be to insert it in the latch mechanism from below where the hood catch is locked in. The cable just pulls it to one side, and you will need to move the slide mechanism to the side and when you hit it just right, the hood will pop open.
Study yours first to see what your trying to do before you tackle your brothers.
The only other way is a crow bar from the outside and it tends to damage the hood and paint so I would recomend the first method.
Been there done that, it is a bitch to do and it is very tight. At least two beers before hand will make the job easier and the cussing will be less.
Good luck

HOLD UP...
IF THE CABLE BROKE FROM THE INTERIOR SIDE YOU CAN USE SOME PLIERS TO PULL THE CABLE.THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO MINE.I USED A BIKE BRAKE CABLE TO MAKE A NEW CABLE.

Hey, Kick!
Where've you been, man?
There's one more option: getting lucky after letting it sit a while, what with one person carefully pulling on the latch cable, and a helper ever so carefully getting purchase on the edge of the hood... somewhat soft wood 'wedges' can be helpful... just beware not to overdo it, it's all about being careful, and lucky! Worked once for me... You could always try spraying some WD (or better) in there, if you can get a hose in to the latch area...
Good luck!
