interesting story

My neighbor now has 2 74 repus. He's had the blue one for about 20 yrs and just recently aquired the white one all oringinal. Well the motort broke after 50k mile so the dealership replaced it. it had dealer installed a/c. Anyway here the story. He saw this repu at someones house and asked about it, asking if the guy wanted to sell it. The guy said that he would but he already promised it to someone else. So my neighboor kept driving by and after a couple of months the truck was finally gone. That was about 5 yrs ago. Then a few months back he saw another white repu ans it was just sitting there. So he finally went to ask the person if they would sell it. The owner said that he would have to ask his son ho he had bought the truck for. His son said yes, then he had to ask his father-in-law. who later said ok. This went on for a couple of months and the guy said that he couldn't find the title and asked my neighbor if he would meet him at his father-in-law's house. When he gave the address my neighbor couldn't believe it. This was the same repu he had asked about years ago. so in a round-about way he got the repu. For how much I didn't ask but he has it now and is thinking what he wants to do with his blue one. So i jumped on that and voiced my intrest in the truck and hopefully I will be a proud owner of a 74 repu. I told I'd be happy to give all the help I can to get his white on running. the truck runs if you pour gas down the carb only any thoughs as to how I (with your guy's help and infinate wisdom) can help him get it running???

Sounds like...

...a fuel supply issue...(?) Clean out from tank thru carb.; maybe try checking out the fuel pump and filter for starters...?
Don't forget clean oil and filter(!), plenty of clean coolant, and fresh tuneup parts... can't hurt to clean electrical connections as well...
